Setting Up Your First Website

When your hosting account was activated, the hosting server was configured to accommodate one new website and associate that website with the second-level domain name that you specified when you ordered the hosting package.

You can now perform the following essential steps to get your site online:

Step 1: Review and change hosting settings for your website. This step is optional and the settings may not be changeable due to provider's policy.

• View and select the scripting languages that should be supported for the website.
• Select web statistics program that will be used for creating graphical reports for the website.
• Select a directory on the server that will be used for storing website files and directories, which is called a document root.

Step 2: Add web pages, text, graphics, and useful applications to the website:

• Open the Panel's built-in SiteBuilder and fill your site with content within a few minutes.
• Use web design software of your choice to create website content on your local computer, and then upload it to the server over FTP. You can set up a number of additional FTP accounts if you need to collaborate with other people on site content.
• Open the Panel's built-in file manager to manually create, edit, or remove site files and directories. This method is convenient if you are comfortable with HTML markup and need to make quick changes to the source code of web pages.
• Install applications on website: add content management systems, photo galleries, shopping carts, blogging platforms, forums, and many more.

Step 3: Preview the site in your browser.

Step 4: Submit the site to search engines to ensure traffic to the site.
