To learn about the changes introduced in the previous version 11.0, refer to Release Notes at http://kb.parallels.com/en/114032.
You can install the core components of the system on the same server where you plan to host websites, or have one dedicated server for running the system (the core server) and publish websites on separate hosting servers.
Before installing, make sure that the following requirements for the core server and publishing servers are met.
500 megabytes of free disk space for installation of the core components, plus at least 300 kilobytes per each hosted site.
8 gigabytes of RAM.
Parallels Presence Builder 11.5 Standalone can be installed on the following operating systems:
CentOS 5.5-5.8, 6.x (32-bit and 64-bit).
Debian 6.0 (32-bit and 64-bit).
Important: SELinux must be disabled.
The following software components, which are not included into the distribution package, must be additionally installed:
Apache web server (apache2 package).
MySQL Server version 5.0 or later.
mod_fcgid. This is available from the Debian 6 repositories (called libapache2-mod-fcgid), but if you want to install on CentOS, you will need to obtain it from other third-party repositories, such as, for example, the Atomicorp repository.
You can install it with the command wget -O - http://www.atomicorp.com/installers/atomic |sh.
For details, visit http://www.atomicorp.com/wiki/index.php/Getting_Started.
If you plan to host customers' sites on separate servers, ensure that the following requirements are met:
The servers are resolvable on the Internet: DNS settings are properly configured.
PHP version 5.2 or later is installed.
Multibyte string functions (mbstring extension)
In php.ini, the following directive is set: default_charset = "UTF-8"
Parallels Presence Builder 11.5 Standalone supports the following browsers:
Internet Explorer 8,9,10, and 11
Mozilla Firefox 19 and later.
Safari 6 for Mac.
Google Chrome 25 and later.
For information and instructions on how to obtain, install, and upgrade Parallels Presence Builder 11.5 Standalone, please refer to the Installation and Administration Guide located at http://download1.parallels.com/WPB/Doc/11.5/en-US/pdf/presence-builder-11.5-standalone-installation-administration-guide.pdf.
Note: After upgrading Presence Builder to version 11.5, all customizations made by editing the configuration file
/usr/local/sb/config are discarded.
Applicable to migrations from SiteBuilder 4.5: If a custom locale or a locale that is not supported in PPB 11.5 was installed in SiteBuilder 4.5, after migration from SiteBuilder 4.5 to Presence Builder 11.5 the default American English language will be set in the Presence Builder editor. The contents of the migrated sites will not be affected: their language will not be changed.
During installation or upgrade of Presence Builder Standalone on CentOS 6 with yum 3.2.29, users will not receive any messages from the installation scripts in the console. However, the detailed information about the installation or upgrade process will be available in log files, which are kept in the directory
Although this issue with yum does not affect installation or upgrade in any way, we recommend the users of CentOS 6 to update yum to the version 3.4.3-32 or later.
If you specify an invalid username and password upon login to the license management area (https://<host_name>/License), you might be taken to a blank page.
After publishing of sites created in Safari or Opera, you might encounter some error messages in the web server's error log file. However, these errors do not affect the published websites' operability in any way.
When a site snapshot is created, its creation time is set according to the server's date and time.
Some editor pages, such as Dashboard and Design > Colors may not fit entirely the screens of monitors with low vertical resolution (such as 1280x800).
Safari users may encounter issues with posting comments on websites that use the Commenting module. This happens if "Authorization with a Facebook account" is selected by the webmasters in the module settings.
